Other Info
Alistair Smythe was the paralyzed son of Spencer Smythe, inventor of the Spider-Slayers (a series of robots designed to destroy Spider-Man). The first generation series of Spider-Slayers were created by Alistair's father and commissioned by J. Jonah Jameson. However, Alistair's father failed to kill Spider-Man, which resulted in his father's death. Thus, Alistair inherited the legacy from his father and gained a new-found hatred toward Spider-Man. (To learn about the above highlighted characters, just click on their names.)

At first, Alistair worked for the Kingpin. But, he soon parted ways with him due to a disagreement on how to deal with Spider-Man. (To learn about the Kingpin, just click on his name above.)

Soon after, Smythe was sent to an asylum. However, he escaped and took several other inmates along in order to build a new series of Spider-Slayers. After sending a series of slayers after Spider-Man, Alistair lured Spider-Man to his residence for one final battle. At this point, Alistair had modified his body with cybernetics and began to battle Spider-Man, now as the "Ultimate Spider-Slayer" himself. However, he was still defeated and taken into custody with the other asylum inmates as well.

Eventually, Smythe escaped prison and sought revenge on both Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jameson for the death of his father. Therefore, he threatened to kill Jameson's wife and son to force J.J. to alter the stories in the Daily Bugle. However, once Spider-Man discovered Smythe's trail, he followed it back to the Bugle where he met up with Smythe. But, this time, Alistair sent every series of Spider-Slayers to attack Spider-Man. At one point during the attack, Smythe gave Spider-Man the choice of either stopping them or preventing one of the slayers from destroying Jameson; however, Spider-Man was able to shut down all the Spider-Slayers at the same time. But, it was Jameson who knocked out the Ultimate Spider-Slayer (Smythe) with a baseball bat for threatening his family. (To learn about the Daily Bugle, just click on the highlighted name above.)

Later on, Alistair Smythe returned with a new metallic body armor and was hunting down all of J. Jonah Jameson's friends and family. However, he wanted to recruit others in his crusade against J.J.; therefore, Smythe infiltrated the Raft and kidnapped Mac Gargan (Scorpion). Afterward, Smythe turned Mac Gargan into a cyborg Scorpion, and convinced him to join him in his revenge against J. J. Jameson. Soon after, Smythe was able to get a small army of cyborg minions (the Army of Insects), including Fly-Girl and Shawna Tyron. The team attacked took John Jameson, and held him ransom. Smythe's new plan was to kill all those close to Jameson, but not to kill J.J. himself so Jameson could feel the same suffering that he did when he lost his father. This led to the Ulitmate Spider-Slayer's actions killing J.J.'s wife. (Click the highlighted place and/or characters above to learn more about them.)

Eventually, the Ulimate Spider-Slayer was caught and sent to the Raft as a prisoner.

More recently, Dr. Octopus transplanted his mind into the body of Spider-Man. Thus, retaining all of Peter's memories, and was able to fool Peter's family and friends as the "Superior Spider-Man." Therefore, when Mayor J. Jonah Jameson called in Spider-Man to help oversee the execution of Alistair Smythe to prevent any type of escape, no one knew that it was actually Dr. Octopus. Just as Smythe's execution was about to happen, a swarm of mini Spider-Slayers attacked, which allowed Alistair to attempt his escape. However, the swarm was counteracted by Dr. Octopus's Spider-Bots. The mini Spider-Slayers were then sent to the infirmary where they surround Boomerang, Vulture, and Scorpion. The mini Spider-Slayers healed and enhanced them, and then Smythe requested that they kill Spider-Man in return. Eventually, Smythe battled Spider-Man, and was taking the upper hand until he was shot down by Mayor Jameson. In fact, during the battle, "Spider-Man" tried to convince Smythe's allies that he was only using them, and was planning to take their enhancements back once he escaped. However, even though all of them agreed that it could happen, they decided they would make the best of the situation and continued on. Eventually, the Ultimate Spider-Slayer was able to shut down the power on the entire island; thus, allowing the Lizard to escape. However, soon after, "Spider-Man" succeeded in killing Smythe, but only physically. Smythe attempted to transfer his mind into Spider-Man and assume his life; however, he was unable do to do so because  Dr. Octopus had already done the process. Therefore, "Spider-Man" taunted him, and revealed his true identity as Doctor Octopus just before the Ultimate Spider-Slayer died. Alistair Smythe appeared in film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. However, the movie version is an Oscorp employee and Max Dillon's boss.
