Lizard

Real Name
Dr Curtis Connors

Occupation
Biologist, former Army surgeon

Citizenship
U.S.A.

Place of Birth
Coral Gables, Florida

Known Relatives
Martha (wife, deceased), Billy (son), unidentified sister

Group Affiliation
formerly the Sinister Twelve

Education
Doctorate degree in herpetology

Height
6'8" (as Lizard) 5'11" (as Connors)

Weight
550 lbs (as Lizard) 175 lbs. (as Connors)

Eyes
Red (as Lizard) Blue (as Connors)

Hair
None (as Lizard) Brown (as Connors)

Powers
As the Lizard he has superhuman strength (enabling him to lift/press 12 tons), speed, agility, and reflexes equaling that of Spider-Man. He possesses great resistance to injury surpassing that of Spider-Man in that his tough scaly skin is more resistant to being lacerated or punctured by concussive force. The Lizard can also regenerate damaged areas of his body, even to the extent that he can regrow his limbs and tail if severed.

In addition to this, the Lizard's tail is superhumanly strong and can whip at up to 70 miles per hour. He can scale walls almost as well as Spider-Man can, and can telepathically control all reptiles within a one mile radius of himself.

As the Lizard, Curt Connors' level of intelligence varies. Most often his Lizard persona has normal human level intelligence, but occasionally it has been relatively mindless. Having the characteristics of a cold-blooded reptile, the Lizard grows physically weaker from prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. The Lizard recently has gained the ability to excrete pheromones that can cause humans to behave violently.

Abilities
Connors has genius intelligence and is a world renowned herpetologist (reptile scientist)

Other Info
Curt Connors was a gifted surgeon who went to war to help his country. There, he performed surgery on wounded GIs. Unfortunately, his arm was injured in a blast and had to be amputated.

Eventually, later on, Curt became obsessed with uncovering the secrets of reptilian regeneration, and he studied reptilian biology extensively. From his home in the Everglades, he finally created a serum taken from the DNA of a reptile (with this serum he had successfully regrown the missing limb of a rabbit). Against his wife's warnings, he experimented with the serum on himself. Afterward, Connors arm did grow back, however, it had one side effect: he was transformed into a giant lizard.

Soon after, Spider-Man learned about Dr. Connors' transformation and traveled to Florida, and helped the doctor by using Connors' notes to invent a serum to cure him. Later, Connors was even able to repay Spider-Man by developing a formula to save Peter's aunt, May Parker (Peter had given her his radioactive blood during a transfusion that almost resulted in Aunt May's death). (To learn about the above characters, just click on their names.)

For a time, Peter worked as a teaching assistant to Dr. Connors. However, the success of Connors apparent cure from the Lizard personae was short-lived. For awhile, a repeating pattern occurred: stress or a chemical reaction turned Connors into the Lizard, Spider-Man would fight him, form some kind of temporary cure to revert the transformation until the next transformation. And the cycle continued.

Over time, it became apparent that a second personality had formed with the Lizard (this personality wanted to take over the world). For awhile, Lizard used an army of lizards to try to achieve his goals, but after some time, he decided to just work alone.

At one point there was a "new" Lizard that eventaully went after Connors. Dr. Connors decided to drink an old serum and become the Lizard to save his son's life, and to stop this "new" Lizard. He was able to kill the "new" Lizard; however, unfortunately, this transformation also brought the Lizard persona back into action. (Later, it was discovered that the "new" Lizard was actually an accident from Connors' latest attempt to cure himself--a new formula was tested on a piece of the Lizard's tail and it eventually grew into a fully-formed creature.) (To learn about the "new" Lizard, click on the highlighted name above.)

At one point, his wife and son separated from Connors (I mean, if your husband or father turned into a giant lizard every once and awhile, that would stress you out too). However, after some time, Curt and his wife were reunited. Also, at one point, his missing arm restored by Hammerhead. But, of course, something bad had to happen to all the happiness he was experiencing: both his wife and son, Martha and Billy, were diagnosed with cancer after years of being exposed to carcinogens from living near an industrial lab of the Monnano Corporation in Florida. Furthermore, Curt's new arm degenerated and became useless. However, Spider-Man assisted Dr. Connors, and they successfully forced the Monnano Corp. to admit their environmental wrongdoings. Unfortunately, Martha succumbed to the cancer, but Billy survived. However, due to his mother's death, Billy has become bitter towards his father. (Click on the highlighted characters above to learn more about him.)

Later, Connors became darker and more mentally-unstable. Curt returned to New York in search of a research grant. But, when the grant was awarded to another scientist, Connors blew up the laboratory, and left his rival badly injured. The Lizard was seen leaving the lab, but Connors convinced Spider-Man of his innocence. However, Curt allowed Spider-Man to lock him inside an abandoned vault in the sewers for everyone's safety. However, later, during a visit by Spider-Man to the vault, Connors admitted he had been lying and said that he had been in control of the Lizard for some time, and was using his transformation as an escape mechanism to do horrible things. After beating up Spider-Man, the Lizard escaped the sewers. Fortunately, after confronting Billy, the Lizard was shaken-up with internal conflict and, as Connors, he allowed himself to be easily arrested for a bank robbery and locked up to protect those he loves.

The Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) recently freed the Lizard from prison, enhanced his powers to include violence-producing pheromone secretion, and brokered a deal for the creature to join the very short lived Sinister Twelve. (To learn more about the characters and team above, just click on their names.)

Most recently, the Lizard has resurfaced to face Spider-Man with the aid of a pint-sized "twin" of himself (it was later revealed that the little "twin" was
his son, Billy--finally transformed by his father into the new Lizard). Tragically, however, Billy was shot by a civilian. His condition remains grave, and Curtis himself has escaped to the relative safety of the sewers.

Dr. Connors was in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. He is Peter Parker's professor that is missing an arm. I wished that they would have developed The Lizard in one of the movies. Who knows, maybe they will in the future (I hope!).

Doc Samson

Real Name
Leonard Samson

Occupation

Psychiatrist; former college professor, special consultant to the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Gamma Base in New Mexico

Citizenship
U.S.A.

Place of Birth
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Known Relatives
Ricky Myers (son)

Group Affiliation
Gamma Base staff, Hulkbusters

Education
Ph.D. in psychiatry

Height
6' 6"

Weight
380 lbs.

Eyes
Blue

Hair
Green (formerly brown)

Powers
Doc Samson possesses superhuman strength, endurance, and durability. His skin and muscles have been fortified by gamma radiation, and is resistant to injury from gunfire. However, his strength is proportionate to the length of his hair.

Abilities
He is able to lift up to 25 tons. He can also leap great distances (580 ft straight up, and can also leap a distance of more than 900 ft).

Other Info
Dr. Leonard Samson came to General "Thunderbolt" Ross with a plan to cure Ross's daughter Betty (who had, at the time, been transformed into a crystalline form through a blood transfusion with the Sandman). Dr. Samson had technicians devise a machine that would drain off gamma particle energy and psionic energy from Bruce Banner as he transformed into the monstrous Hulk. Samson theorized that as a result of this process, both Bruce and Betty would be cured. (To learn more about the above characters, just click on their names.)

After the procedure, most of the psionic energy drained from Banner, as well as a considerable amount of his excess gamma radiation, remained in the machine. Therefore, later, Dr. Samson irradiated himself with the energies remaining within the machine. As a result, the skinny, brown-haired Samson, was transformed into a massively muscled, green-haired superhuman with gamma-boosted strength. Unfortunately, like the Hulk, Samson also now had to deal with various personalities: Leonard the Psychiatrist, Good Samson, and Bad Samson.

Doc Samson (as he has been nicknamed) has long sought to capture and permanently cure the Hulk. However, the Hulk hasn't been Samson's only focus...Samson was integral in the capture of the first known gamma-powered serial killer, Patchwork. He has also aided others who have been affected by gamma radiation such as the Initiative recruit, Geiger. (To learn about the highlighted characters, just click on their names.)

Doc Samson and the Hulk have fought many times over the years; however, in recent years Samson has become Banner's friend and confidant, as well as his therapist. Also, along with helping the Hulk, Doc Samson has been working as a psychiatrist specializing in other superheroes' problems.

Samson also took part in the Superhero Civil War, and was Pro-Registration. (This put him against the greats like Captain America.) (Click on the highlighted event and character above to learn more about them.)

To learn more about Doc Samson, click on the following link, http://marvel.com/universe/Doc_Samson.

Doc Samson appears in The Incredible Hulk movie. He's the psychiatrist that is in a relationship with Betty Ross at the beginning of the movie. In the movie Leonard Samson doesn't appear to have any superpowers yet. In the deleted scenes of the movie, there were more scenes where Leonard was getting to know more about Bruce and were becoming friends, but obviously these scenes were deleted from the movie.

Emma Frost

Real Name
Emma Grace Frost

Occupation
Co-headmaster of Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, adventurer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Frost International, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees and headmistress of Massachusetts Academy

Citizenship
U.S.A.

Place of Birth
Boston, Massachusetts

Known Relatives
Winston Frost (father), Hazel Frost (mother), Cordelia Frost (sister), Adrienne Frost (sister, deceased), Christian Frost (brother), Steven (full name unrevealed, brother-in-law, deceased), Jocasta (cousin), Stepford Cuckoos (daughters)

Group Affiliation
X-Men, formerly Generation X (headmistress), Hellions (mentor), Hellfire Club (White Queen)

Education
College degree in business administration, qualified sex therapist

Height
5'10"

Weight
144 lbs.

Eyes
Blue

Hair
Brown (dyed ash blonde)

Powers
Emma Frost is a mutant who possesses various telepathic talents. Emma can read minds and project her thoughts into the minds of others, project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness, and can also induce mental pain merely by touching the brow of her victim. Emma can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them. It is unknown how effective her "sedating" ability is on victims who are awake.

Furthermore, as a consequence of continued mutation, Emma can now transform her skin and hair into a diamond-hard form at will. In this form, Emma is nigh indestructible except for one small flaw that, if exploited, can cause her to shatter. Whilst in her diamond form, Emma's telepathic abilities are suppressed.

Abilities
Emma is highly skilled in electronic theory and electronics and has learned how to build devices that can amplify psionic energy and utilize psionic energy for various effects. She devised the mechanism by which her Hellfire Club cohort Mastermind projected his illusions directly into the mind of the Phoenix Force.

Other Info
Emma Frost was born into a wealthy family. She was the second of three daughters; Emma also had an older brother named Christian. Unknown to their family or themselves, the three Frost sisters were mutants whose telepathic abilities matured upon reaching puberty. (To learn about Emma's older brother, just click on his name above.)

When it came time for their father to choose a worthy heir to the family fortune, Christian was automatically dismissed due to a substance abuse problem. And even though, the older sister, Adrienne, seemed the most obvious choice, their father chose Emma. Surprisingly, she refused, choosing to make her own way through life. (To learn about Emma's older sister, click on her name above.)

Ultimately, Emma inherited a good deal of wealth, but most of her large fortune resulted from her professional success. She ascended rapidly in the business world on the strength of her intelligence, drive, and personal charm (as well as the secret use of her mental powers).

Eventually, Emma became the majority stockholder of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate principally involved in electronics and transportation (both the building of ships and aircraft, and their use for freight and passenger conveyance). Even though she was relatively young, she was named chairwoman of the board and chief executive officer of the rechristened Frost International. She also became headmistress and chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Massachusetts Academy (a college preparatory school for students in 7th-12th grade located in the Berkshire Mountains in Snow Valley, Massachusetts).

At a later point, Emma's success caught the attention of the Hellfire Club (an elite social organization consisting of the world's wealthiest and most powerful figures). When she learned that the club was hiring dancers, she promptly auditioned and used her telepathic talents to enhance her performance in their eyes. Unlike the other females in the Club, Emma was never uncomfortable with the strict dress code that required female members to wear lingerie at all times. She believed her revealing wardrobe to be one of many weapons in her arsenal, one that gave her an instant advantage over men. (Unfortunately, now we know why she is always dressed immodestly!) Frost quickly became an ally of Sebastian Shaw (a member of the club's Council of the Chosen who were secretly conspiring to achieve world domination through economic and political means). At the time, the leaders of the club and council (its foremost Lords Cardinal, whose titles corresponded to the names of chess pieces) were White King Edward Buckman and White Queen Paris Seville. Buckman threw the council's support behind Project: Armageddon (a program to construct mutant-hunting Sentinel robots). Aware of Shaw's mutant powers, Buckman told him the initiative's intent was to capture mutants as a means of helping the council attain power. However, using her psionic powers, Emma learned that the project's actual purpose was the annihilation of all genetic deviants. After Shaw's lover, Lourdes Chantel, was murdered by one of the Sentinels, Shaw and Frost were able to stage a coup, and seize control of the Council of the Chosen (later, they renamed it the Inner Circle). Shaw took the title of Black King, and Frost became the new White Queen. (To learn more about the above club, characters, and/or programs, just click on their names. Note: As mentioned above, beware of the club's bio page: the women are dressed immodestly.)

Under Shaw and Frost's leadership, mutants dominated the Inner Circle. To strengthen the Club's power base, Emma recruited genetically gifted youngsters and helped them hone their abilities at her school. Most of these students were members of the Hellions (Emma's first mutant super-team). She initially encountered the X-Men when she unsuccessfully attempted to recruit young Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat). Subsequently, Emma crossed paths with the X-Men and the New Mutants on a number of occasions, often as their adversary. Later, the X-Men joined with the Hellions to protect the White Queen from the time-traveling terrorist named Trevor Fitzroy. However, the madman's brutal assault plunged Emma into a deep coma and brought about the Hellions' untimely demise.

Whilst Emma's consciousness still active on the material plane, her body was kept in the med-lab at the X-Men's mansion. Seeking to ensure her students' welfare and the school's future, Emma had willed responsibility for the Massachusetts Academy to Professor Charles Xavier. During her psychic incapacitation, the school was added to the rapidly expanding Xavier Institute.

After making a full recovery, she resumed her role as headmistress of the academy. Assisted by Sean Cassidy (aka Banshee), she set out to train a new crop of young mutants: Generation X. However, later on, Generation X was dissolved and Massachusetts Academy was closed. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about the character and team.)

After this, Emma moved to the island nation of Genosha where she began teaching mutant children again. Soon after, a Sentinel attack wiped out Genosha's entire mutant population. Emma was found by the X-Men alive in the rubble, having undergone a secondary mutagenic change that allowed her to survive the onslaught (she could now change her body into diamond). Following this incident, Emma came to teach at the Xavier Institute, and soon took on the responsibility of personally mentoring the telepathic quintuplets known as the Stepford Cuckoos. (To learn more about the characters or place above, just click on their names. Frost's 2nd mutation is shown in the second, forth, and fifth pictures above.)

Emma later counseled her teammate Cyclops following his possession by the eternal mutant warlord Apocalypse. This soon turned into a telepathic affair between the two which was short-lived after Summers' wife, Jean Grey, discovered what was happening. (To learn about the above characters, just click on their names. Note: Beware of Cyclops' bio page: Emma Frost in a revealing and tight-fitting outfit. Also, Jean Grey is in a very skin-tight outfit on her bio page.)

Then later, following the death of Jean Grey, Emma assumed the position of co-headmaster of the Xavier Institute alongside Cyclops.

At one time, Emma offered herself as a host for the Phoenix Force so it could be contained, but was quickly overpowered and her body was completely taken over by the Force. The Phoenix proceeded to burn the planet. Jean Grey separated Emma and remerged with the Force, only to fall into insanity. Emma used her powers to contact every X-Man in the world and their love for Jean restored the Phoenix's sanity. (To learn about the Phoenix Force, just click on its name above. Note: Beware of the skin-tight outfit of Jean Grey on this page, as well.)

Battle Ultimate Results

Pulling through at the very end...Silver Surfer is the winner of the Battle Ultimate!!! Silver Surfer is officially the "People's Choice of the Strongest Marvel Character" (of the first 50 Marvel characters highlighted, anyway) on the Marvel Madness blog!

I checked the polls last night, and I thought there was going to be a tie with Jean Grey and Silver Surfer. However, I checked the votes this morning, and Silver Surfer had pulled ahead of Jean Grey by 1 extra vote! 6 votes to 5 votes! Down to the wire! CRAZINESS!!!

And to be completely honest, I was very surprised with Wolverine coming in 3rd place, just behind Jean Grey, with 4 votes! I didn't think he had a chance, but I guess that Hugh Jackman helped Wolverine out.

Thank you for all those Marvel Maniacs that participated in the poll! We had a great turnout!

Monarch of Latveria, would-be conqueror

Citizenship
Citizen of Latveria

Place of Birth
A camp outside Haasenstadt (now Doomstadt), Latveria

Known Relatives
Werner von Doom (father, deceased), Cynthia von Doom (mother, deceased); Kang, his counterparts, and offspring (alleged descendants)

Group Affiliation
Cabal; formerly Knights of the Atomic Table, Acts of Vengeance prime movers, partner of Namor, employer of the Terrible Trio

College studies in the sciences (expelled before completion of degree); self-educated to graduate level and beyond in most sciences; self-taught knowledge of the mystic arts

Height
6'2" (in armor) 6'7"

Weight
225 lbs. (in armor) 415 lbs.

Eyes
Brown

Hair
Brown

Powers
Doom can exchange minds with others. He possesses some mystical abilities, such as casting bolts of eldritch energy and invoking mystical entities (principalities) for additional support. While empowered by the Haazareth, his mystical powers were on a par with those of Dr. Strange.

Abilities
Doom is a genius in physics, robotics, cybernetics, genetics, weapons technology, bio-chemistry, and time travel. He is also self-taught in the mystic arts. Doom is a natural leader, a brilliant strategist, and a sly deceiver.

Other Info
Victor von Doom was born to the Zefiro travelers (gypsies) Werner and Cynthia in Latveria (a small European country which grew out of Hungary and was ruled by King Vladimir).Victor barely knew his mother (a witch who had invoked the demon Mephisto for power, which raged out of control before she was finally slain by a soldier). Before dying, she asked Werner to protect their son Victor from Mephisto. Then after that, Victor's father, a doctor, was forced to treat King Vladimir's wife. When Werner could not cure her cancer, Vladimir blamed him for his wife's death, and Werner fled out of the country with Victor. Unfortunately, Werner died from exposure to the cold while protecting his son, Victor. Before dying, Werner placed Victor into the care of his best friend, Boris, and tried to warn his son of the fearful life he foresaw him falling into; however, he died before he could make Victor understand. (To learn more about the above highlighted characters or place, just click on their names.)

Discovering his mother's mystical artifacts, Victor schooled himself in sorcery. He began an annual contest against the might of Mephisto, attempting to set his mother's soul free. By the time he was a teenager, he had also become a scientific genius and used his inventions to wage a one-man war against the monarchy of Latveria. His genius was heard of even in America, and he was invited to New York's Empire State University on a scholarship. Victor had been in love with Boris' granddaughter Valeria, but he left her behind as his desire to acquire knowledge and the means to seek revenge consumed him.

Upon arriving at State University, Victor was greeted by Reed Richards, a fellow student who was interested in rooming with him; however, Doom rejected his offer of friendship. Throughout his university days, Doom pursued a rivalry with Richards (he was convinced his intellect was more superior than Richards'). Doom's greatest invention was a machine designed to rescue his mother's soul from the netherworld. Richards tried to warn Doom of a flaw in his calculations, but Doom was too proud to listen. Victor activated the machine and it exploded in his face. This explosion led to Doom being expelled from the university, and a scared face. Filled with self-loathing, he left America for Tibet, seeking new enlightenment. There he found the Aged Genghis, one of the enigmatic Immortal Nine. The now senile sorcerer directed him to seek out a long-lost order of monks. Doom made these monks his servants and had them forge his first suit of armor, designed to hide his scarred features from the world. Doom had them press the mask to his face before it had cooled, ensuring that if his face had not been hideous before, it was now. (Click on the highlighted names to learn more about the above characters.)

After this, Dr. Doom conquered Latveria, slaying King Vladimir, imprisoning his son Rudolfo, and having a robot duplicate of Rudolfo surrender the Latverian crown to him. After doing so, he renamed the capital city Haasenstadt to Doomstadt. While Doom maintained a puppet prime minister, the outside world was largely unaware of Doom's status as ruler, tending to dismiss his existence as a myth.

Dr. Doom wears a sophisticated nuclear-powered titanium battlesuit which grants him superhuman strength, contains jets for flight, houses a personal force field, and discharges concussive force blasts. He can also electrify his armor's surface. The armor contains a 4-hour air supply, and can be sealed for travel into outer space or underwater. Special attachments to the armor have included a molecular-expander, which can cause molecules to expand into the size of boulders, and various devices for absorbing the energies of others. Doom's many inventions include a variety of robots, such as robot duplicates of himself (Doombots), Latveria's robot police force (Servo-Guards), an army of unstoppable robots designed only to destroy (Killer Robots), as well as robots designed for slave labor and non-humanoid models used for special posts; his time machine, with which he can travel through space and time; and a shrink ray.

In one of his earliest time travels he journeyed back to World War II and considered killing Adolf Hitler for the crimes his Nazi regime had inflicted upon the Zefiro and other travelers; however, he ultimately decided to leave him to his own fate.

Much of Victor's life has been set around three goals: rescue his mother, prove his superiority over Reed Richards, and conquer the world. Due to these goals, Dr. Doom is one of the main rivals against the Fantastic Four. (To learn about the highlighted team, just click on their name.)

When Reed Richards was wed to Sue Storm (aka Invisible Woman), a spiteful Doom used an Emotion Charger to send scores of super-villains to the wedding site; unfortunately for Doom, these villains were defeated by the Fantastic Four and their super-heroic wedding guests. Doom engaged in new schemes, once stealing the Silver Surfer's powers, which he lost by challenging the barrier Galactus had placed around the Earth. Once, he also swapped bodies with Daredevil, but this farce was foiled by the Fantastic Four. (To learn more about the above characters, just click on their names.)

At one time, Diablo tried to force Doom into a partnership by holding his long-lost love, Valeria, hostage; however, Doom used his time machine to cast Diablo into the future. He saved Valeria, but then lost her again because Valeria was ashamed of Doom's gloating over Diablo's fate. (To learn about Diablo, click on his name above.)

Later on, Doom's throne was threatened by its rightful heir, Prince Rudolfo. Doom also had to contend with his rogue creation the Doomsman, and with the Red Skull, who attempted to claim Latveria for himself. The Black Panther, ruler of Wakanda, foiled Doom's attempt to steal Wakanda's Vibranium. (Click on the above highlighted names to learn about the characters, country, and item above.)

Even though Doom is evil, he has fought side-by-side with the Fantastic Four to save the Earth from the Overmind, acknowledging that while he had no love for them, he would not allow anyone to threaten Latveria. (Click on the highlighted Overmind to learn more about him.)

One time, Doom spread a neuro-gas into Earth's atmosphere to bind the entire world's population to his will. However, his authority was challenged by the mutant Magneto, and they fought, manipulating the Champions, Avengers and Hulk into fighting for their sides. When Doom was attacked by the Ghost Rider, his mask overheated and he was forced to remove it, inhaling his own neuro-gas; this rendered him unable to control anyone affected by the gas. (To learn about the above characters and team, just click on their names.)

At one point, Doom tried to take mental control of the United Nations using his Solartron Complex. But, after being exposed to multiple images of his own face projected by the Solartron, Doom went completely insane and was imprisoned. After his imprisonment, Prince Zorba, Rudolfo's younger brother, reclaimed his family's throne from Doom.

Later, Doom was freed by Boris and he regained his sanity. He then learned that Latveria had fallen into anarchy without him. Therefore, he was able to convince the Fantastic Four to assist him in overthrowing the now-insane Prince Zorba and retaking his throne. Doom himself slew Zorba. In the aftermath, a young Latverian boy named Kristoff Vernard was orphaned by Zorba's forces and Doom took the child under his protection, making him his heir. (To learn of Dr. Doom's heir, click on his highlighted name above.)

Later on, it had seemed that Terrax killed Dr. Doom. And the Doombots had activated a contingency plan whereby Doom's past experiences were implanted within Kristoff's mind so that he could assume Doom's role. Kristoff went insane, believing he was Doom trapped in the body of a child. Finally, the true Dr. Doom returned to Latveria following a time travel adventure, and he retook the throne from Kristoff. (To learn about Terrax, just click on his name.)

Doom often attributes his many defeats to his Doombots. And perhaps one of his most humiliating defeats came by Squirrel Girl who sent squirrels in to chew apart the wiring the armor of his Doombot. On the otherhand, Doom's greatest victory came when, after years of combating Mephisto, he and Dr. Strange finally rescued his mother's soul from Hell, allowing her to pass on to a better afterlife. (Click on the characters above to learn more about them.)

Sometime later, Doom had seemingly died alongside Earth's heroes battling Onslaught; but Doom and the others were preserved in the new Counter-Earth, created by Franklin Richards. Here, Doom lived a new type of life in which he was an old friend of Bruce Banner, Reed Richards and Tony Stark, who had all been members of a fraternity called "Knights of the Atomic Table." However, history seemed to repeat itself, because Doom became a villain on this Earth as well. When the heroes regained their memories, Doom helped them return to their own Earth via the Negative Zone; however, when he attempted to escape with Franklin, Doom was assaulted by Thor and cast back to the Counter-Earth. With no super heroes to oppose him, Doom soon became ruler of Counter-Earth. For a while, Doom ruled both Counter-Earth and Latveria simultaneously by projecting holograms back to Earth, but he ultimately found that Counter-Earth could never equal the utopia of his Latveria, so he returned to Earth to resume his duties in Latveria.

(To learn about the above characters and places, just click on their names.)

When Thor led an unauthorized invasion of Slokovia (a country neighboring Latveria), Dr. Doom aided the Avengers in fighting their rogue ally-manipulating events so that when Slokovia's government collapsed, Doom moved in and annexed the country, adding it to Latveria.
