Powers

Blink is a mutant with the ability to create teleportation portals. Through these portals, she can move objects or groups of people for a variety of distances. In fact her limit is not known, but she has teleported as far as from Earth to the moon. She can also use her powers offensively by focusing her teleportation ability and creating spears which she can throw with high accuracy. The spears can expand into portals at her will, teleporting all or a portion of an enemy or object, or merely stunning them. She is very skilled with her powers, and has often defeated much more powerful opponents by redirecting their own powers back at them.

Abilities

Blink is a very skilled hand-to-hand fighter, having honed her skills by training with Sabretooth. She is also extremely agile.

Other Info

Far before Clarice was born, the immortal mutant Apocalypse traveled the world, spawning innumerable offspring. The descendants of Apocalypse called themselves Clan Akkaba. Later, after a conflict with Dracula, the Clan Akkaba was nearly destroyed. However, Apocalypse's servant, Ozymandias, decided to revitalize the Clan himself. Therefore, he hired a woman known as Miss Ferguson to have intimate relations with Fredrick Slade--one of the last remaining survivors of the Clan Akkaba. Fredrick possessed a form of teleportation which was passed on to his great-great granddaughter, Clarice Ferguson. (To learn about the above highlighted characters, just click on their names.)

Clarice was a timid and scared teenager who lived in constant fear of her mutant abilities ever since her power first manifested quite tragically. When she first used her powers against someone, she was knocked unconscious. When she awoke, she found herself in a pool of blood. (Clarice could not properly control her powers, and apparently was unable to teleport anything in an intact form. Instead, any object or person caught in her teleportation field was shred instead of being teleported). From then on, she vowed to never use her powers against another living being again.

Later on, when the technological alien race known as the Phalanx attacked Earth, they stole Professor Xavier's list of mutants. Many mutants were then captured by the Phalanx so they could experiment on then and find out how they could absorb the mutants into their collective existence. Clarice was one of the captured, along with Husk, M, and Skin. Even though Clarice became friends with the other captives, they couldn't figure out how they could escape. Eventually though, they were freed from their prison when a rescue party consisting of Banshee, Synch, Jubilee, Emma Frost, and Sabretooth came looking for them. However, when one of the Phalanx named Harvest attacked, Clarice took it upon herself to defeat him. To do so, she teleported away half of the ship they were imprisoned upon. Then, she "cut-up" the villain with her space-altering powers; however, her portal swallowed herself as well, apparently killing them both. Because of her sacrifice though, the remaining captives were set free and soon became the Generation X team.  (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the race, characters, and/or team. Later on, it was discovered that Clarice had not died after all, but had actually transported herself somewhere else. Soon after, Clarice was put under a "spell" and recruited by Selene to join her Inner Circle (a personal army of deadly mutants who had either been raised from the dead or had deathly powers) on Necrosha (formerly Genosha). Alongside other mutants, Clarice had been groomed into a teleporting mutant who used her powers to kill. Due to the characteristic "blink" sound from her teleportation fields, Clarice began going by the codename, Blink. (Click on the highlighted character, team, and/or places above to learn more about them.)

At one point, Selene sent her Inner Circle to Utopia to obtain a mystical knife that would complete a ritual of Selene to become a goddess. However, upon arrival, the Inner Circle battled the X-Men. During the battle, Blink and Senyaka fought against Angel. Senyaka ensnared him with his coils and Blink used her spears to obliterate his wings. After successfully finding the mystical knife, Blink teleported the Inner Circle back to Selene with a captured Warpath. After this, Blink and Thunderbird were ordered to keep an eye on Warpath; however, they failed when Vanisher came and saved him. When Selene finally achieved her goal of becoming a goddess, she ordered her Inner Circle to get her more souls to absorb. Therefore, Blink teleported all the zombie mutants and former mutants to Genosha. A battle soon ensued between all the mutants. During that final battle, Selene was killed, and Blink fleed from off Genosha. (To learn about the place and/or characters highlighted above, just click on their names.)

Afterward, Blink traveled to Eastern Europe, to Selene's birth place, and tried to resurrect her; however, she failed. It was here that the X-Men, with Dr. Strange, found Blink. Dr. Strange used his magic to free Blink from Selene's spell. Once she was free the spell, Blink remembered all of her victims and realized that she was a killer. Noticing this turmoil, Emma Frost invited Blink to join the X-Men; however, Blink refused. (To learn about Dr. Strange, click on his highlighted name above.)

Later on, Blink saved many people from some disasters which caused Cyclops to send the New Mutants to find her and and try to recruit her. Due to the Schism in the X-Men at the time, it was Dani Moonstar who offered Blink a choice to join Cyclops' X-Men in Utopia or Wolverine's team at the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. In the end, Blink chose Wolverine's side and went to Westchester. (To learn about the characters, teams, and/or place above, just click on their highlighted names.) Interestingly, Blink became so popular among comic fans that an alternate version of Blink (Earth-295) was created in the nightmarish reality known as the Age of Apocalypse. This alternate Blink became a founding member of the Exiles. However, this version of Blink is more confident, strong, and determined than her original Earth-616 counterpart. It is rare that an alternate version of a character from the Marvel Universe becomes more noteworthy than the original. 3. Karissa & Derek - I agree with both of you. I hope she appears more in the X-Men: Apocalypse movie! Makes sense to include her.
