He can see, with perfect clarity, great distances--even in near-total darkness. His hearing is similarly heightened, allowing him to hear sounds that ordinary human's can't hear. He can detect sounds at much greater distances as well. At one point, Warpath even learned how to fly.

Other Info
James Proudstar was born on the Apache reservation in Camp Verde, Arizona. As a young boy, James grew up idolizing his older brother, John, who became a local hero. After their mother revealed to them that she had cancer, John (with James secretly accompanying him) infiltrated Arroyo labs--a clinic that was running tests on their reservation's people and treating them for cancer. However, James was discovered by Dr. Martynec, who revealed himself to be a mutated werewolf. The brothers learned that Dr. Martynec was actually faking the cancer diagnoses so he could irradiate his patients and observe the results. Later, John was recruited into the X-Men, taking on the code-name "Thunderbird." Unfortunately, he died on one of his earliest missions. Just before Thunderbird's funeral in the Western Desert, James took his brother's body and gave him a traditional Apache warrior's funeral rite instead. Blaming Professor X for his brother's death, James accepted an offer from Emma Frost (then the White Queen of the Hellfire Club) to join her team: the Hellions. In his brother's memory, James took his brother's costume and code-name of "Thunderbird." (To learn about the above highlighted characters and/or teams, just click on their names above. Note: Beware of the very revealing outfits worn by some on Emma Frost and the Hellfire Club's bio pages.)

Later on, James kidnapped Banshee, to draw the X-Men to Cheyenne Mountain--where his brother had been killed. Everything went to plan; however, when it came to down to it, James couldn't bring himself to kill Professor X. The Professor convinced James that his brother died a hero's death. James realized that the X-Men were not responsible, and he released them. After this, Professor X offered James a place on his team of X-Men protégés known as the New Mutants, but he declined. Instead, James returned to the Hellions and eventually became their leader. However, it wasn't too long until James didn't feel like he fit in with the team, and decided to leave and return home to Camp Verde. (To learn about the Banshee and/or the New Mutants, click on their highlighted name above.)

Some time later, during a trip to New York, Proudstar was approached by Cable to join his formative strike-force known as the X-Force, but Proudstar declined the offer. After James returned home, he found everyone on his reservation had been slaughtered. The only thing left behind was a Hellfire Club mercenary's mask. Vowing revenge on the Hellfire Club, James went back and accepted Cable's offer and began going by the code-name of "Warpath." Alongside X-Force, Warpath fought the Mutant Liberation Front, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Toad, and many other villains who crossed their paths. It was during this time that Warpath developed his powers to higher and higher levels (he could run up to 100 MPH, and climb walls by digging his fingers into the concrete). In addition to his powers, Warpath also began to develop a crush on his teammate Siryn--he was even instrumental in helping her recover from alcoholism. In was during this time that Warpath eventually came across Emma Frost and confronted her about the death of his people; however, she convinced him that it was not the Hellfire Club that was responsible in killing his tribe. (Click the highlighted names above to learn about the characters and/or team. Also, Warpath in his X-Force uniform is shown in the first picture posted above. Note: Beware of the revealing/form-fitting outfits on the Mutant Liberation Front's bio page above.)

At one point, Warpath was seduced by a young mutant named Risque. After this, Warpath left X-Force and wandered the country with her. Ultimately, however, Risque betrayed Proudstar, drugging him and delivered him to a mutant called Sledge--her mission all along. Sledge, with no malicious intent, told James about a member of his tribe, Michael Whitecloud, who had somehow survived the massacre. In exchange for Whitecloud's location, Sledge requested that Proudstar retrieve Vanisher from an alternate dimension. Warpath did so, and then brought Whitecloud with him to see Siryn. Whitecloud told Warpath more about their tribes massacre and how he escaped, and how to access the files he stole from the Arroyo Institute--which was the reason for the destruction of Camp Verde. James retrieved the documents; however, he was ambushed and captured by Dr. Martynec. Martynec revealed that he had been working for "Stryfe" (time-traveling clone of Cable) to create mutated soldiers and experiment on the people at Camp Verde. However, after the escape of one of his doctors and one of his creations, they massacred the tribe to cover it all up. Eventually, Siryn and Warpath were able to break free; however, Dr. Martynec injected James with a drug and killed him. (Click the highlighted character names above to learn more about them. Note: Beware of the revealing outfit on Risque's bio page above.)

While in Hell--realm of the demon Mephisto--Warpath was confronted by Stryfe, who wanted to force him into despair, which would allow Stryfe to be resurrected by Blackheart. Fortunately, Proudstar was able to connect with Siryn, who was doing CPR on him. In addition, Valkyrie (Brunnhilde) brought the rest of X-Force to the Hell dimension to fight for James' soul, which they won, returning Warpath to life. (Click the highlighted character names above to learn more about them.)

Later on, with X-Force, Proudstar began learning how to enchance his abilities even more with the help of Peter Wisdom. He even learned how to fly. At one point, the X-Force survived being in the center of a Vibranium bomb explosion; however, the team decided to let the world believe they were dead, and to use this status to secretly infiltrate and destroy anti-mutant organizations around the world. (To learn about the character and/or item above, just click on their highlighted names. Also, Proudstar after Wisdom's training is shown in the fourth picture posted above.)

Eventually, Warpath and the X-Force reappeared and confronted a team at a press conference when the new team was calling themselves "X-Force" (later they were called X-Statix). (To lean about X-Statix, click on the highlighted name above.)

Soon afterward, Proudstar was recruited into the X-Corporation in Mumbai, India. When Professor X came to visit, James saved his life from assassination by the deranged Lilandra. Here, James worked with former teammates Feral, Thornn, and Sunfire. (Click on the highlighted team and/or character names above to learn more about them. Note: Beware of the revealing/form-fitting outfits worn by some on Lilandra, Feral, and Thornn's bio pages.)

After the events of M-Day, which stripped most mutants of their powers, Proudstar relocated to the "198" mutant encampment on the grounds of the Xavier Mansion--he being one who retained his powers. While living at the X-Mansion, James rekindled his friendship with former teammate Caliban who was also staying there. In addition, he was given Vibranium Knives as a gift from Storm and the Black Panther. (To learn more about the event, team, place, and/or characters above, just click on their highlighted names. Note: Beware of revealing/form-fitting outfits on the M-Day and Caliban bio pages. And beware of the extremely revealing outfit on Storm's bio page--block images if possible).

Shortly afterwards, for the first time, Warpath joined the ranks of the X-Men. Along with Professor X, Marvel Girl, Nightcrawler, Havok, Darwin, and Polaris, he journeyed into space to track down Vulcan. Through battles, the team was eventually able to stop Vulcan from destroying the Shi'ar. (Click the highlighted character and/or race names above to learn more about them.)

Back on Earth, Warpath joined a new X-Force team formed by Wolverine (designed to personally do the extreme tasks the X-Men would normally not be associated with). At one point, Caliban sacrificed his life to save James' by jumping in the path of a range of bullets from a Reaver. James buried Caliban at the Apache reservation, alongside his brother. (To learn more about the character and/or team above, just click on their highlighted names. Also, Warparth during his time with Wolverine's X-Force is shown in the fifth picture posted above.)

Later on, with the help of Ghost Rider, Warpath learned about how Eli Bard had resurrected his brother, Caliban, and his tribe for a sacrifice to Selene. Therefore, James and the X-Force went to Necrosha (formerly Genosha), where Selene had brought her reanimated army. It was on Necrosha, that Warpath ended up confronting his brother in battle, where he gave his brother a mercy killing. Soon, with the help of an ancient ritual, the team was able to kill Selene with her own dagger, which freed the souls from her reanimated army. (To learn about the highlighted characters and/or places above, just click on their names.)

More recently, Warpath has left the X-Force and has been seen on Utopia. (Click on the highlighted place above to learn more about it.)

  1. 1- He is huge! 7'2"!!

2 - So what exactly is his mutation? Is it enhanced strength? Are his muscles more durable/ more capable? Is he like Mr. Incredible (i.e. just super strong) or is there something else to it?

  2. Well, according to various websites, Warpath is a mutant possessing various superhuman physical attributes including enhanced strength, speed, durability, reflexes, and senses. However, some of powers have fluctuated considerably over the years.
