Other Info
Thomas Logan lived in Alberta, Canada around 1882. Thomas was groundskeeper for the Howlett Estate. Thomas had son named "Dog" Logan. At one point, Thomas also had an affair with the estate Mrs., Elizabeth Howlett. Logan was an abusive, alcoholic father, who beat his son, Dog, and introduced the boy to alcohol, warping Dog's mind. Thomas had a violent short-temper, a mean disposition, and flew into uncontrollable rages. (To learn about Elizabeth Howlett, click on the highlighted name above.)
One day, Rose O'Hara (a red-headed Irish girl) was brought to the estate from town to be a companion to the young James Howlett (Elizabeth's second son--the result of her and Thomas' affair). However, when Dog made unwanted advances towards Rose, James reported this to his father, John Howlett Sr. In retaliation, Dog killed James' puppy, Callie. Due to Dog's actions, and failing to control his son, John Howlett Sr. fired and kicked out Thomas and Dog from their estate. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about Wolverine and/or his step-father.)
After this, Thomas, in a drunken stupor and armed with a shotgun, invaded the Howlett Estate and attempted to take Elizabeth with him. John Howlett Sr. attempted to stop him, but and Thomas shot him down in cold blood, killing his former employer. At that moment, James had just entered the room and witnessed his father die. When this occurred, for the first time James' mutation manifested itself--claws extended from the backs of his hands. In an uncharacteristic ferocity, James attacked both intruders. The attack left Dog's face scarred with three claw marks, and Thomas Logan was killed when he drove his newly manifested bone claws into Thomas' chest.
Over a hundred years later, James (now calling himself Wolverine) had become a hero in the many teams including the X-Men and Avengers, was sent to Hell. While in Hell, Wolverine met with Thomas, who confirmed that he was his James actual biological father. (To learn about the teams and/or place, just click on the highlighted names above.)

Whoa... that's pretty similar to the movie, and very sad. And very interesting =)
