Other Info

Sally Blevins was a victim of child abuse for a long time. One day, Sally was finally able to escape her abusive stepfather when her mutant power manifested itself for the first time. Upon seeing this, her father kicked Sally out of the house. Now as a runaway, Sally was living on the streets until she met up with the Morlocks (a group of homeless mutants)--she decided to join them. Now as a Morlock, Sally began to live in the "Alley" and took on the nickname of "Skids." (To learn about the Morlocks, click on their highlighted names above.)

At one point, Skids encountered
Rusty Collins, who was being pursued by the Freedom Force (government-chartered mutant enforcers composed of former members of the Brotherhood of Mutants) and a mob of mutant-hating humans. (Rusty had accidentally injured a woman with his pyrokinetic powers and was wanted by the U.S Government.) Skids’ force field allowed the two to escape; however, they were eventually overtaken by the Freedom Force on the edge of Central Park. Fortunately, before the Freedom Force could take them in, a mob of humans attacked the team. In the ensuing confusion, Skids and Rusty tried to escape again. The Freedom Force eventually caught up with them, this time in the sewers beneath New York. Fortunately, the young mutants were saved by the timely arrival of the original X-Factor. After a brief skirmish, the Freedom Force retreated. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the character and/or teams.)

Skids and Rusty decided that they would train  under the X-Factor's mentorship and learn more about their powers. (They essentially becoming the first of several X-Factor “trainees.”) In addition, the two began developing a romantic relationship. They shared other adventures alongside the rest of the trainees (including Artie Maddicks, Leech, and Boom-Boom). At one point, they called themselves the "
X-Terminators." In this capacity, the team helped stop the events of the demonic invasion known as the "Inferno" (Click on the highlighted team and/or event above to learn more about them.)

Later on, however, the X-Factor was disbanded and most of their trainees were inducted into the membership of the
New Mutants. Skids and Rusty, on the other hand, learned that Freedom Force were taking mutant infants (that were abducted during the events of the Inferno) into government custody. The two decided to work together and try to save the children. Unfortunately, they were unsuccesful and they too were imprisoned. (To learn about the New Mutants, click on their highlighted name above.)

Some time later, a mutant terrorist group known as the
Mutant Liberation Front, took notice of Rusty and Skids, and they freed the two from prison. However, in the process, they had a brief run-in with the Cable (he too was trying to rescue the couple). For reasons of their own, the Skids and Rusty voluntarily joined the Mutant Liberation Front instead. (To learn about the team and/or character above, just click on their names. Note: Beware of the revealing outfits on the Mutant Liberation Front's bio page..)

Later on, Skids and Rusty were kidnapped by the Acolytes of Magneto when the team attacked and decimated the ranks of the Mutant Liberation Front. The Acolytes took the couple to the orbiting space-station Avalon and inducted them into their group. Unfortunately, sometime later, Holocaust attacked the Acolytes and destroyed their space station headquarters. The result of the attack left Skids injured and Rusty dead. Holocaust was eventually stopped by the X-Men, and Skids was taken to the X-Mansion for medical attention. However, upon recuperation, Skids left the mansion without notice. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about the teams, place, and/or character.)

Wanting to start anew, Skids decided to enroll in college in Boulder, Colorado studying biological sciences. However, this didn't last long when she was soon contacted by her friends of the New Mutants who had long since become X-Force. Soon after this, they were all attacked by Reignfire and his incarnation of the Mutant Liberation Front. During this, Skids’ force field disrupted the teleportation abilities of Locus, causing both of them to be caught in a trans-spatial backlash which deposited them in the country of Latveria. Upon their unexpected arrival, Skids and Locus were captured by a sorceress named Pandemonia. However, with the assistance of the young sorceress Jennifer Kale, X-Force managed to defeat Pandemonia and rescue their friends. After this, Skids returned to university life. (To learn about the different team, characters, and place above, just click on their highlighted names. Note: Beware of the form-fitting outfit on Locus' bio page, and Jennifer Kales' revealing outfit on her bio page.)

Later on, at the request of Sunspot, Skids briefly became a member of the Los Angeles branch of the
X-Corporation. She was also on hand to aid the X-Men against the threat of Elias Bogan. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the team and/or character. Also, Skids outfit during her time with the X-Corporation is shown in the fourth picture above.)

Following the events of
M-Day, Skids was one of the "198" mutants who still had their powers. She fled to the Xavier Institute and made a home in the refugee camp there with the other 198 until they were allowed to leave. (To learn about the highlighted event and/or team above, just click on their names. Note: Beware of the revealing outfits on the M-Day's bio page.)

More recently, Skids went back to the Morlock Tunnels and supposedly sided with the bad Morlocks. However, she turned out to be an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and turned on them, siding with the X-Men. (To learn about S.H.I.E.L.D., click on the highlighted name above. Also, Skids in her outfit with S.H.I.E.L.D. is shown as the fifth picture above.)

  1. Does the name "Skids" stand for anything or was it just the first street name Stan Lee came up with?

  3. Steve: Whether this is real or not, I don't know (due to looking for a bit and finding it on a random website), but according to a certain website, Sally chose the name "Skids" because "things just tend to 'skid' off of her without leaving a mark" due to her force field.
