There is a new crossover storyline coming to Marvel comics in April--AvX...Avengers vs. X-Men! Here are some examples of what I'm talking about on some teaser photos I've seen: Thor vs. Storm, Captain America vs. Cyclops, Iron Man vs. Magneto, Thing vs. Juggernaut, Hulk vs. Emma Frost, Red Hulk vs. Colossus, Archangel vs. Daredevil, She-Hulk vs. Rogue, Spider-Man vs. Iceman, Beast vs. Luke Cage, Black Widow vs. Psylocke, Spider-Woman vs. Gambit, etc.

Marvel Showdown...
This is tough! There are sooo many strong characters on all sides. The Avengers have Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Thing, and Spider-Man. The X-Men have Magneto, Psylocke, Wolverine, Rogue, and Storm. (I haven't seen any pictures of Professor X, so I assume he is not associated with the battle--but, I could be wrong.)
ReplyDeleteIf I look at just the head-to-head battles from the teaser images I listed...I'm about 50/50 on Avengers and X-Men who would win their 1-on-1 battles. To me, it comes down probably the most powerful of the two groups in my mind...Hulk, Thor, and Spider-Man vs. Magneto, Psylocke, and Rogue. (There could be others, but I'm going to use these 6.)
Magneto may be able to control some of the metal found on Thor's armor which could cause some problems. However, he couldn't stop the Hulk from "Hulk Smashing!" Spider-Man would be one that could withstand Rogue's touch due to him being completely covered in a costume. Psylocke could use some of her mental powers and do some damage to both Spidey and Hulk. Rogue could fly around until Hulk Smashed her! (Even if we were to pull Wolverine into the mix, Hulk has also been known to dent and bend adamantium so Wolverine doesn't stand a chance against him.) I think it would come down to Hulk vs. Psylocke. Both very strong with powers and abilities; however, I'm going to have to pull out my personal biases on this one and say that Hulk would be victorious!
Of my top 5 favorite superheroes...4 are from the X-Men. But, my #1 is the Hulk--and he truly is an unstoppable force of nature (in my opinion)! With him on the Avengers' side, the Avengers will come out victorious!
I think I agree with you Cory! I think it would end up in an all-out melee, and I think Hulk could stand that better because he pretty much IS an all-out melee. However, the mind controlling capabilities of the X-Men would definitely create some difficulties... but I don't think Magneto, Psylocke, Professor X, and Jean Grey could all work together. The problem is that the X-Men have too many enemies working together and it would create further melee from within. I think the Avengers would win!
ReplyDeleteMy view is Avengers have the advantage in brute force (Hulk, THor, Captain America, Iron Man) but X-men do Dominate the Mental Powers (Jean, Professor X, Psylocke)
ReplyDeleteHowever it seems to require a lot of focus and endurance to keep up the most powerful aspects of psychic powers. Throwing in the Hulk and Thor's Hammer could break their concentration allowing the muscle of the avengers to take the psychics down. Without them X-men have Juggernaut and Rouge. Hulk and Juggernaut are pretty evenly matched for durability but Hulk seems to have more strength. Also Rouge could steal some powers in the right situations but The avengers have Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Iron Man that have no powers to steal (I didn't see War Machine or Pepper/Rescue in the Avenger's roster)
This would be a long fight, but in the end I think punches will win this fight for the Avengers.
