Other Info
There is not much information on the early years of Mystique. But, she has been able to shape-shift since an early age. Mystique is the mother of Nightcrawler. Another thing that I thought was interesting is that she had a child with Victor Creed (a.k.a. Sabretooth). Their son, Graydon Creed, was born with no mutant abilities and eventually became an anti-mutant activist. Mystique was also the foster mother of another mutant, Rogue. It seems that Mystique intertwines herself in many other mutant's lives. (For more concerning these different people in Mystiques life, click on their names above.)

Mystique organized the third incarnation of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, which originally consisted of herself, Avalanche, the Blob, Destiny, and Pyro. Mystique named her group after the original Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, an organization founded by Magneto. Mystique's Brotherhood clashed with the X-Men and the Avengers, along with other heroes.

Anti-mutant sentiment among normal human beings had greatly increased, and the federal government launched its own covert anti-mutant program, Project: Wideawake. At this point, Mystique decided to offer the Brotherhood's services to the government. The governement agreed only after thy proved their loyalty by capturing Magneto. The Brotherhood (now renamed Freedom Force) succeeded in bringing Magneto to the authorities (only because he voluntarily surrendered to them). Soon after, the Freedom Force was officially entered into the government's employ. In return, as Freedom Force's leader, Mystique received a Presidential pardon for all criminal charges against her. Even for a time, Mystique worked for Professor Charles Xavier and the X-Men. Mystique has worked for both evil and good forces. And it's still a mystery as to which side she truly is fighting for.

Some may be thinking to themselves, "Wasn't her name Raven Darkholme in the movies?" Well, actually that was just a name that she used for awhile, but like it says under the "Real Name" section above, her real name is unrevealed. (To learn more about the different names that Mystique has used, her history of fighting for both good and evil, and/or for the general history of Mystique click the following link, http://www.marvel.com/universe/Mystique.

  1. The movies were very misleading - Mystique definitely seemed like she was fighting for the bad side in the movies, and not at all for the good side.

I think it's interesting that Colossus can change his weight with his powers, but that Mystique always weighs 120 - and just her volume increases. Does that mean if she were impersonating a 200 lb man that they could weigh them to know the difference? Or that someone could pick her up and notice that she LOOKS like she weighs 200 lbs but only weighs 120? That would be funny =)

  2. I liked Karissa's comment. :) And I also find it interesting that she flip-flops between the good and bad sides. Thanks for the comments you left on our blog today. :)

  3. I found the answer Karissa! Mystique does stay the same weight, no matter what she morphs into. Her strength stays the same too, whether she's larger or smaller than her normal self. I read about a comic where Mystique impersonated a little girl and when she ran up to a soldier, she punched him and then jumped on him and grabbed his head (I'm assuming to break his neck or something) and then the soldier realized that the little girl had unexpected strength and she weighed much more than she looked. So, there you have it! She could be weighed to determine if she is the real person or not. Also, another thing, she cannot imitate another mutant's powers.

  4. I wonder if Mystique only worked for the government so she could be a spy or something. She flip-flops so much (and like you said, we never really know who she's working for) that it seems like it would be hard for anyone ever to trust her!
Even so, she's still one of my favorites =)
