Other Info
Lance Hunter was a member of the Royal Navy who became an intelligence agent. When the British government decided to set up an British-led organization similar to U.S.-led S.H.I.E.L.D., the then Commander Lance Hunter was put in charge of its formation. Mirroring  S.H.I.E.L.D.'s format and even uniforms, Hunter created S.T.R.I.K.E. (Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies). (To learn about the teams highlighted above, just click on their names.)

Later, Hunter was redeployed and Tod Radcliffe was appointed the agency's next Director.  However, it wasn't long until Radcliffe was exposed as a S.T.R.I.K.E. traitor who was secretly working for the Red Skull. Then after Radcliffe was killed, Lance Hunter returned as the Director of S.T.R.I.K.E. (To learn about the above highlighted team and/or character, just click on their names.)

Hunter and the agents of S.T.R.I.K.E., along with Nick Fury and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., worked together to track down the Red Skull's Nazi activities. Soon they discovered that the Red Skull had kidnapped the British Prime Minister, James Callaghan and was planning on setting off a biological germ bomb over London. However, Hunter and Fury with their respective superheroes--Captain Britain and Captain America--ended up stopping the bomb and stopped the Red Skull's plans. At one point, Lance Hunter helped Captain Britain in capturing Lord Hawk. However, during the battle, Captain Britain was severely injured. Hunter took the injured hero to S.T.R.I.K.E. headquarters to recover. While there, Captain Britain's spirit was actually summoned away by Merlyn and Roma (the ones who infused the hero with his powers). Once there, he battled with a monstrous giant; however, the injuries Captain Britain suffered in this spirit realm transferred to the Captain's real body. Lance Hunter ordered the doctors to keep working to save their hero; however, things were not improving. Then when Hunter finally admitted defeat at the bed side of Captain Britain's lifeless body, the Captain returned to the real world, healed from his injuries, and left the S.T.R.I.K.E. base. (Click the highlighted names above to learn about the different characters.)

Later, Hunter tried to recruit Captain Britain to join S.T.I.R.K.E.; however, the hero declined.

Sometime later, after S.T.R.I.K.E. was dissolved, Hunter moved on to other roles within the intelligence community and eventually gained the rank of Commodore and became the Head of the Armed Forces Paranormal Response (AFPR). He worked along with Alistaire Stuart and S.H.I.E.L.D. British Liason Contessa Valentina Allegra di Fontaine (actually a Skrull impostor) in drafting the British version of the Superhuman Registration Act. Part of that function was also to explain the Act's ramifications to the British superhuman population. Which led to a briefing with Joseph Hauer, Pete Wisdom, Captain Britain, and Union Jack about the Act. More recently, during the Skrulls' Secret Invasion, it was discovered that the JIC Chair, Mortimer Grimsdale, was actually a Skrull agent and was killed. After this, Lance Hunter was appointed as JIC Chairmen, leaving the Head of the AFPR to the British Intelligence. In this new capacity as JIC Chair, Hunter headed all of Britain's security services, including MI5, MI6, and MI13. 2. In the TV show, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I believe he is a good guy. But, as you know, that can change at any point throughout the series. ;-) So, we'll just have to wait and see if he stays good or not.
