I recently rented a cartoon movie entitled, Hulk Vs., which has two separate short movies with Hulk vs. Wolverine and Hulk vs. Thor. This has inspired me to do this next poll...BATTLE ROYAL! Imagine if twelve Marvel characters were to be in a battle to where there could only be one victor. Put the good and evil notion to the side. Everyone vs. everyone. No alliances. Only one can be left standing. Please choose who you think would win among the twelve Marvel characters in the poll. Also, if you have time, please leave the reason why you think the character you chose would win in the "comment" section below. This way, we can all see your reasoning in choosing your winner. Who will be the victor? Only you can decide!
The twelve characters that are involved, are the twelve characters that have been highlighted so far on the Marvel Madness blog: Rogue, Magneto, Human Torch, Mystique, Colossus, Beast, Storm, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Hulk. (If you have forgotten some of these characters' powers/abilities, go ahead and check out their bios right here on the Marvel Madness blog.)
Hulk would win. Magneto can't do anything; Human Torch would just fly around until he got smacked; Mystique has nothing; Colossus and Beast are strong, but not that strong; Storm could shock him a little, but Hulk could do the Hulk slap thing to throw her off balance until he got the chance to jump up and grab/punch her or throw something at her; Iron Man's energy and missiles are nothing; Spider-Man is quick along with Nightcrawler, but both couldn't do much damage before they got crushed; Wolverine would be difficult because they both can heal, but Hulk would be able to rip Wolverine to pieces with his extraordinary strength. Hulk's toughest competition would be Rogue. She could try touch him with her hands and absorb his powers, but I don't believe Hulk would allow her to touch him long enough without him totally crushing her. He could also do his Hulk slap thing that would create a strong wind to make everyone, including Rogue, tumble away to allow him time to choose his prey. The victor...HULK!
ReplyDeleteNow that I've read your comment, I agree with you. But I'll leave my vote the way it is to bug people. I just remember being impressed with Magneto's powers. Oh well. Sorry, I'm just not as into the Marvel world as I should be. But I love you, Cory!! I proved it by voting AND leaving a comment--even though it's rather lame. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that Magneto is very powerful! I actually think Magneto could do some serious damage on Colossus, Wolverine, and Iron Man considering they are basically made of metal, have a metal skeleton, or wear metal! :-)
ReplyDeleteSee Cory, you're right about a lot, but you've got some stuff way off. Rogue would be huge competition, but she wouldn't start by absorbing the Hulk's powers. Not to be crass, but I'd imagine her exposing as much skin as possible and just dancing naked through the melee touching as many mutants as possible. By the time she got the Hulk she'd be an incredible super-mutant with the powers of at least half a dozen others, and then Hulk wouldn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, she and all of the others have the intellectual capacity of forming strategies, whereas Hulk would be more of a reacting entity. I honestly don't even think he'd make it into the top five, simply because a bunch of people would gang up on him in their common interests. And in such a mad melee, you can't so easily dismiss Spider-man's spider sense. With that tingling all over the place, he'd have a huge advantage. Magneto would get rid of Wolverine and Colossus right off the bat, and Iron Man of course, and then he'd have a whole lot of metal to play with to throw at the others, so you can't dismiss him as easily either. Mystique's powers wouldn't really do her any good, since impersonating someone else in a melee isn't going to stop them from stomping her.
Nightcrawler would also have a big advantage with being able to teleport away from any confrontation that's not going well for him. That would throw his opponent off and set him/her up for someone else taking advantage.
Storm and the Human Torch have the advantage of being able to fly, and it always helps to get above the fray.
So, I think it would Spidey, Magneto, Rogue, Storm (she'd get rid of Torch boy) and Nightcrawler by the end, and Rogue (with their powers combined at this point you should just call her Captain Planet) would be the ultimate victor.
That's how I call it, and I'm not taking bets with the odds spread accordingly.
That should say "now" taking bets. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteStorm would win. She could use the wind to blow Hulk into orbit towards the sun where his super strength is totally useless. This is assuming that Magneto kills all of the metal people first and that everyone is heavily clothed to protect against rogue.
ReplyDeleteWow, you people really know your stuff. I didn't think it through nearly as much as any of you did. Impressive. A bit nerdy. But still very impressive. ;)
ReplyDeleteWolverine all the way! He's a freaking machine. Have you seen the preview for his new movie? He kicks trash. I mean in one scene he's flying through the air toward a helicopter. It doesn't show what he does to the helicopter but I'm sure he tears it apart just like he would tear every last part of each mutant you've posted into tiny little pieces (even the Hulk).
ReplyDeleteJason, you've got a good point. I didn't think about how Rogue could go in a naked frenzy and pretty much destroy everybody. And you're probably right about her, at the end, being pretty much "Captain Planet." :-)
ReplyDeleteBut, I must point out too that it is written that Rogue has "no upper limit...for the number of beings [she] could simultaneously imprint." Key word: simultaneously. Since she couldn't absorb all of the other Marvel characters' powers at the same time, she would probably have to replace her old absorbed abilities with the new absorbed abilities.
ReplyDeleteColossus Takes out Mystique.
ReplyDeleteSpiderman Takes out Rogue.
Human Torch takes out Spiderman.
Storm Takes out Human Torch.
Iron Man takes out Beast.
Hulk takes out Storm, Iron Man and Colossus, but then he feels bad and reverts back to Bruce Banner.
Wolverine takes out Banner with a well placed cartwell.
Magneto takes out Wolverine.
Nightcrawler appears right in front of Magneto and punches him right in the face! Game over!
How you like them Apples, Hardcore!!!!
Here's how it would work - Rogue (who has almost a precognition sense so she can sense danger) (REMEMBER!?! She's already got some sweet powers before she touches anybody. Also, remember she can take people's energy to the point where they collapse - it happened in the cartoon (season 1 episode 2) and she took Wolverine out with a mere graze of her hand) SHE would sense where Nightcrawler is coming from. She'd touch him, take him out and get his powers. Then she would transport briefly around to every mutant, take their powers, and then win hands down. Strategically, if I were her, I'd go in the following order after Nightcrawler: Magneto (and then use his powers to stop Wolverine, Iron Man, and Colossus) and then do Wolverine, Iron Man, and Collossus. Then I'd get Hulk (who would probably be done with everyone else at this point), but if not then I'd go Storm, Human Torch, Spiderman, Mystique, and then Beast last... if he even lasted that long, which I highly doubt because he's really got nothin'!
ReplyDeleteAlso, we can't forget that Magneto could also shred the metal guys, and then send the shrapnel around at crazy speeds and murder everyone by shredding them with pieces of metal in two seconds... but I think Rogue would take him out before then, so I still vote her.
And Cory, just because she can't touch them simultaneously doesn't mean she can't hold more powers at once. You see, there's a time limit of how long she gets their powers according to how long she touches them... I think your argument that she would lose a power once she moves on makes a huge assumption, and I choose to say you're wrong ;-) (I love you!) =)
ReplyDeleteRandy...good work! Karissa...good point! Oh, and Hulk would still win! Muwahahahahahaha! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe Hulk would defiantly win. If bullets can't hurt him that take out Magneto, Iron Man and Wolverine. In the first Hulk his father tries to take his energy, couldn't handle it so rouge probably can't either. Even if she could Hulk would punt her into the next time zone before she had a chance anyways. He could clap like in the second movie and put out the human torch. No one else is strong enough to compete with his size and strength.
ReplyDeleteSteve...I like your thinking!
ReplyDeleteYou people are smart!!! I am having a hard time even following your logic half the time. I, apparently, have not been thoroughly converted to this "madness". You guys are awesome and I'm very impressed. :)
ReplyDeleteMy somewhat worthless money is on Rogue. She's got the precog/psychic thing going on but would have to be careful of the order of who she touches. Magneto could take her out if she took on some of the metal heads first. She'd need to:
ReplyDelete1. Hulk it up
2. Take out the lessers: Mystique, Human Torch, Beast, Storm and others(preferably in that order)- picking up some useful powers along the way.
3. Move onto the bigger threats - Magneto first then move onto the others still standing and they wouldn't have a chance especially if she could get a hand on them and use their own powers against them. Now, I think Nightcrawler might be a little squirrely, but she's obviously gotten her hands on him before, so not impossible to take him out too.
Yep, Rogue. She is a kind of mutant Sylar and my money is on him too.
Am I aloud to change my vote to Rogue? After reading everybody else's comments I'm starting to agree. :) I'm such a wannabe!! :)
ReplyDeleteChanging of votes is definitely allowed up until the poll closes! :-)
