When James Hudson (aka Guardian) and Department H of the Canadian government decided to create a super-human response team, he drafted several super-humans into a team he called "the Flight." The Flight's first mission pitted them against Egghead (Elihas Starr) and several of his hired super-human henchmen: Solarr, Porcupine, Rhino, Swordsman (Jacques Duquesne), Power Man. (Egghead was planning on launching a nuclear missile into New York City from a location withing Ontario.) The Flight was able to stop him, despite the fact that Wolverine could barely control himself and that Smart Alec snapped under the pressure. In fact, in order to save the Flight, Saint Elmo had to sacrifice his life to absorb the explosion. Due to the failure of his first effort (having inexperienced and ill-trained members), Hudson revised his plans and created a three-tiered system for the Flight: Gamma Flight, Beta Flight, and Alpha Flight. Gamma Flight would be the initial training program; Beta Flight would be the next training program; and Alpha Flight would serve as the active super-human response unit. (To learn about the above highlighted characters and/or teams, just click on their names above.)

The first Gamma Flight team organized consisted of Smart Alec, Diamond Lil, Madison Jeffries and Wild Child. However, soon the government shut down Department H and the Gamma Flight was disbanded. (To learn about the Gamma Flight members, just click on their names above. Also, this Gamma Flight team is shown in the first, third, and fourth pictures posted.)

Later on, when the Alpha Flight disappeared, the Canadian government founded a new sanctioned superhero team to replace them, calling the new team Gamma Flight. This time, the Gamma Flight consisted of Nemesis, Witchfire, Silver, Auric, and returning member, Wildchild. (To learn about the second Gamma Flight team members, just click on their highlighted names above. Also, this version of the Gamma Flight is shown in the fifth and sixth pictures posted.)

With Alpha Flight implicated in various misdeeds that had occurred, Gamma Flight had orders to bring them to the authorities. Therefore, Gamma Flight and Alpha Flight came into conflict many times.

At one point, however, the two teams became joined forces while battling Llan. After Llan was defeated, the Canadian government decided to disband Gamma Flight. Wild Child and Witchfire were absorbed into Alpha Flight's new structure. Auric and Silver disappeared. And Nemesis became the leader of a small cult (and later joined Alpha Flight).

In the film X2, a "Gamma Flight" folder appears on William Stryker's computer screen. (The team name is listed on the very top of the second picture posted above.)

Battle Ultimate 4

We've had Battle Royal 13, 14, 15, and 16! Thus, another 50 Marvel characters have been highlighted! This means only one thing...BATTLE ULTIMATE 4 SHALL BEGIN!

Normally, we would take the top 8 winners of the past four Battle Royals (top 2 for each Battle Royal) and put them head-to-head in a giant Battle Ultimate! However, because there was a four-way tie and a three-way tie for 2nd place on two different Battle Royals, we will only be having the top 6 characters go head-to-head.

Put the "good" and "evil" notion to the side. It's EVERYONE vs. EVERYONE. No alliances! Just pure power and abilities versus others' powers and abilities! Only ONE can be left standing! Please choose who you think would win among the people's chosen 8 strongest Marvel characters.

Also, if you have time, please leave the reason why you think the character you chose would win in the "Comment" section below. This way, we can all see your reasoning in choosing your winner. Who will be the victor? Only you can decide!

The people's chosen 6 strongest characters in the past 50 highlighted characters: Magma, Agent Garrett, Thanos, Cerebro, Hawkeye, and Banshee. (If you have forgotten some of these characters' powers/abilities, go ahead and check out their bios right here on the Marvel Madness blog.)

Battle Royal 16 Results

The winner of Battle Royal 16 is......MAGMA! With 5 out of the 9 votes, she was a clear victor! Kane, Proteus, Sunspot, and Black Tom all picked up 1 vote a piece--so they all tied for 2nd place. Thanks for voting!

Graymalkin has a number of abilities that wax and wane with exposure to light. His powers appear to strengthen with a lack of light, and he is weaker with exposure to light, though he is not powerless. Beast discovered Jonas' powers activated when he was buried alive and he went into suspended animation for over 200 years. His primary ability is super-human strength. He possesses night vision allowing him to see clearly in total darkness. He has also shown enhanced agility. Beast lists invulnerability and longevity as additional abilities, this allowing him to survive the pressure and cold extremes of being buried alive for 200 years without food or water.

Abilities
None

Other Info
Jonas Graymalkin was born in the late 18th century. At the age of sixteen, Jonas realized he was gay. Meeting another boy in his family's barn one day, he was discovered by his father. A very religious man, Jonas' father believed his son to be an abomination. After beating Jonas nearly to death, his father then tried to bury him in the nearby woods. However, being burried actually triggered Jonas' mutant powers which was the reason he survived for the next 200 years. (Jonas in the 18th century is shown in the third picture posted.)

After the last Sentinel attack that destroyed the Xavier Institute, Graymalkin was found in the the remains. When we awoke, he was greeted by Cipher. After meeting some of the Young X-Men, and even joining them in battle, Jonas was recruited into the Young X-Men team.  (To learn about the above highlighted characters, just click on their names.)

Soon after this, Beast performed a genetic test on Graymalkin and discovered that he was an collateral ancestor of Professor Charles Xavier. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the characters.)

At one point, Jonas opened up to a fellow X-Man, Anole, and told him his life story. Anole then comforted Graymalkin stating that it wasn't his fault, nor his father's, because of the lack of tolerance 200 years ago. (To learn about Anole, just click on this highlighted name above.)

With surprising ease, Graymalkin adjusted to the 21st century well. Despite his inexperience in battle, however, Graymalkin continued to work as a full member of the Young X-Men. He even assisted in the fight against Krakoa, in the defeat of the Y-Men, and the battle with The Neo on the Golden Gate Bridge. (To learn about the character, team, and/or race above, just click on their highlighted names.)

Later on, Graymalkin fought alongside the X-Men in San Francisco during the Skrull's "Secret Invasion." (To learn about the Skrulls and/or their Secret Invasion, just click on their names above.)

More recently, on the island nation of Utopia, Graymalkin continued his combat training along with Anole, Rockslide, and Dagger. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about them.)

There is nothing there, but here is the link to Graymalkin's bio on Marvel.com, http://marvel.com/universe/Graymalkin.

In the film X2, "Graymalkin" appears as one of William Stryker's computer folders. (His name is listed on the very top of the second picture posted above.)

Weapon X; formerly Clan Chosen, Weapon: P.R.I.M.E., Department K, Six Pack

Education
High school dropout

Height
6'2"

Weight
480 lbs.

Eyes

Powers
Before he was given upgrades by the newest incarnation of Weapon X, Kane had a pair of cybernetic arms with superhuman strength.

After he was sent to the future he gained new cybernetic apendages which were made out of liquid metal and could transform into shields, knives, or create detatchable remote controlled hands. His arms were also capable of repairing themselves.

Due to the enhancements that the newest incarnation of Weapon X has given him, Kane now has numerous bionic appendages which houses various weapons. He now has the ability to see in various spectrums of light, project holograms, and he has a computerized targeting system. His strength was also upgraded and he is now more resistant to damage. He could download super powers such as toxic emissions, metal control, and various other abilities. It has been shown that when Kane was blown up by Deadpool, Weapon X was able to reconstruct him perfectly. It is unknown if he can always be rebuilt or if it was just that one incident.

Abilities
Kane was trained by Cable in hand-to-hand combat and in guerrilla warfare tactics. Kane is an excellent marksman and is proficient with any weapon.

Other Info
Garrison Kane's life before he joined Cable's mercenary team, Six Pack, is unknown. Although he was the youngest member of the team, he was not immature and handled himself well enough on the field. However, on one mission, Stryfe (Cable's clone) attacked the team and held Kane hostage in order to retrieve a disk that Cable had. Cable refused to give Stryfe the disk and the battle ended with an explosion that destroyed Kane's arms and legs. (To learn about the above highlighted characters and/or team, just click on their names. Note: Beware of the revealing outfit worn by one in the background of Cable's bio page.)

After this, Cable sent Kane back to the past where he had his missing limbs replaced with cybernetic parts by the original Weapon X program; thus, transforming him into a cyborg. He was then loaned to Department K. With the help of former Six Pack colleague and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent G. W. Bridge, and after a battle with the Mutant Liberation Front, Kane assembled and led a strike team named Weapon P.R.I.M.E.. The goal of Weapon P.R.I.M.E was to apprehend Cable and X-Force for multiple reasons, including Kane's belief that Cable and Stryfe were one and the same. As X-Force defeated Weapon P.R.I.M.E., Kane learned the truth about Stryfe and was sent to Cable's future timeline. (To learn about the highlighted teams and/or character, just click on their names above. Also, Kane after this transformation is show in the forth picture posted above. Note: Beware of the form-fitting and/or revealing outfits worn by some on the MLF and X-Force's bio pages..)

Upon his arrival to the future, Kane's artificial limbs were reconstructed in liquid metal and upgraded with new weaponry and tools. This was done by Cable's freedom fighter group, Clan Chosen. Kane soon joined the team and their fight against Apocalypse. (To learn about the team and/or character, just click on their highlighted names above.)

Eventually, Kane returned to the present where he retired and decided to settle down with his girlfriend Copycat.  (To learn about Copycat, click on the highlighted name above. Note: Beware of the very revealing outfit on Copycat's bio page.)

Later on, however, Kane was employed by A.I.M. (who at the time had captured Guardian of Alpha Flight). Wolverine, who was seeking out Guardian, ended up crossing paths with Kane and other A.I.M. lackeys. They were all severely beaten by Wolverine. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about the teams and/or characters. Note: Beware of the form-fitting outfits of some on the Alpha Flight's bio page. Also, Kane during this time is shown in the fifth picture posted above.)

After this, Kane wandered America searching for ways to become stronger, faster, and better. Soon, the Director of the newest Weapon X program learned of Kane's search and offered to make him more powerful than he ever dreamed. Kane agreed and underwent further bionic augmentation--now Kane's powers allowed him to duplicate the abilities of any member in Weapon X. To ensure Kane's loyalty, the Director's first mission for Kane's was to kill his ex-girlfriend, Copycat. Kane agreed to perform the task, and right when he was about to kill her, Deadpool intervened--he saved Copycat and planted a bomb on Kane. When the bomb detonated, Kane blew up into pieces. However, Weapon X managed to reconfigure and reconstruct Kane perfectly. (Click on the highlighted characters above to learn more about them. Also, Kane after his reconstruction is show in the first picture posted above.)

After being reconstructed, Kane went on several missions for the Director along with other Weapon X members: Mesmero, Marrow, Sauron, Wild Child, Washout, Aurora, and Sabretooth. (To learn about some of the members of Weapon X, just click on their highlighted names above. Note: Beware of the revealing and/or very form-fitting outfits worn by some on Mesmero and Aurora's bio pages.)

Later on, when Cable's Underground movement attacked Weapon X, Cable used his telepathic abilities on Kane to knock him out. When Kane woke, he regained his sanity and realized the error of his ways. Therefore, he sacrificed his life by absorbing the powers of Madison Jeffries; this allowed the Underground to further their attack on Weapon X. Kane absorbed Weapon X's technology into himself, apparently dying in the process. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the team and/or character.)

Group Affiliation
X-Men; formerly Weapon X

Education
Doctor of Medicine

Height
5'7"

Weight
120 lbs.

Hazel

Hair
Brown

Powers
Cecilia is able to create a psioplasmatic field to defend herself. The process is involuntary, the field appears whenever Cecilia feels threatened. The field extends six inches from any point on her body. She also has the potential to use it offensively. Surrounding her fists with psioplasmic force can increase the bludgeoning power behind her punches; she is able to extend razor pointed spikes from the field, expel the field outward in a hammer-like ram, etc. However, since the field is psionic in nature, Cecilia feels everything the field touches, feeling as much pain as if she received the attack on herself.

Abilities
Cecilia is a capable medical doctor and surgeon, making her the only member of the X-Men who is a true doctor of medicine.

Other Info
Cecilia was born into a poor family in a bad neighborhood. When the young Puerto Rican Cecilia was just six years old, she witnessed her dad gunned down in a drive-by shooting. After that day, Cecilia made a vow that she would dedicate her life to helping people. She soon followed the path of becoming a doctor.

One day, while working at Our Mother of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, Cecilia was approached by Professor Xavier, who invited her to come to his school, train her powers, and then go on to join the X-Men. However, Cecilia could not accept herself as a mutant. She didn't want to be involved in mutant affairs in any way; she wanted to save lives as a doctor (To learn about Professor X and/or the X-Men, just click on the highlighted names above.)

A few years later, during the time that Operation: Zero Tolerance (where many mutants were being captured, killed, and being turned into Sentinels), Cecilia pretended to be a mutant hater, being careful not to expose herself. However, one day while at work in the hospital Cecilia was attacked by a Prime Sentinel. Luckily her mutant powers saved her from the assault, but now her mutant status was known to all her co-workers and friends. Eventually, thought, the Prime Sentinel found a way to negate Cecilia's force-field; however, she was saved by the timely arrival of Iceman. While battling on against more Sentinels, the joined forces with Charlotte JonesMarrow, and Sabra. After the battle, Cecilia went to an abandoned X-Mansion. Upon arrival, she used what little tools she had to remove a bomb from Cyclops' chest. Eventually, Operation: Zero Tolerance was destroyed, but Cecilia was now left with no direction. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about operation, team, characters, and/or place. Note: Beware of the revealing outfit/form-fitting outfit worn by one on Cyclops' bio page.)

Attempting to save her career, Dr. Reyes returned to work to have a unique last day. Many families shunned her due to her now revealed mutant status; however, Ceclilia ending up treating a wounded Daredevil, learning his secret identity in the process. Later that same day, an injured Pyro was brought into the hospital. However, the Legacy Virus ravaged Pyro tricked Cecilia into loosening his that the police put on him and he escaped. This resulted in Dr. Reyes losing her job. Therefore, after only one day, Cecilia returned to the X-Men for good it seemed. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn about the characters and/or virus.)

As part of the X-Men, Cecilia had to deal with feelings of inadequacy. And these fears were shown to light one day when the X-Men were attacked by a dimensional race. Using an old costume once worn by the Wasp, Cecilia helped prove to herself that she was valued by defeating the attackers. (To learn about the Wasp, just click on the highlighted name above. Also, Cecilia Reyes in her "Wasp" uniform is shown in the first picture posted above.)

Later on, Cecilia went out on a date with Beast. By co-incidence the two met Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic) and Susan Storm (aka Invisible Woman). However, during their date, they were affected by a machine that manipulated their fear, hate, and doubt. This made Cecilia beat Beast, blaming him for her hated life as a X-Man. It even prompted her to say she hated herself. Once the villain was defeated Cecilia was consoled by Susan, who sympathized with her situation--a situation she's found herself in before. (Click on the characters' highlighted names above to learn more about them.)

After some time, Cecilia left the X-Men and opened up her own small practice in Salem Center. She still helped out the X-Men every now and then. On one occasion, she aided Wolverine in defending some Japanese agents from the mob. During that adventure, Cecilia even stood up to the Silver Samurai, and made him listen to reason rather than to resort to violence. She even sometimes would house-sit at the mansion when the X-Men were away on missions. (To learn about Wolverine and/or the Silver Samurai, just click on their names above. Also, Cecilia Reyes in her more common X-Men uniform is shown as the fifth picture posted above.)

One day, as Dr. Reyes was working, an injured Nightcrawler arrived at her work--he had been shot by Neo (a villainous group of mutants who claimed to have evolved beyond the level of other mutants). Nightcrawler apologized for bringing her back into the life of the X-Men. But, they were attacked by the Neo, Jaeger. As Cecilia tried battling the him, she ended up using her field in offensive ways that she never had before. However, even with that, Jaeger was still too much for her. Then right as Jaeger was about to kill Nightcrawler though, Cecilia lashed out with her powers and spikes extended from her field, impaling Jaeger. Even though she had saved Nightcrawler's life, Cecilia was shocked and heartbroken--as a doctor she pledged to save lives, not take them.  (To learn about the characters and/or race above, just click on their highlighted names.)

Soon after, Cecilia was caught up in the X-Men's battle with the Neo. Eventually, Cecilia became trapped in the Neo's fortress below New York City. She ended up using a highly addictive street drug called "Rave" to make her mutant powers more destructive; thus, ensuring her survival. When the X-Men rescued her, she was brought back to the X-Mansion to try to kick her addiction cold-turkey. With the help of Professor X, and a very long and violent battle with the drug, Cecilia was finally able to kick her addiction to Rave.

Later on, Dr. Reyes was abducted by the Weapon X program and taken to Neverland (a mutant concentration camp). Many of the mutants were experimented on. Many mutants were killed, including Cecilia's fellow X-Man Maggott, but Cecilia somehow escaped after the camp shut down. (Click on the highlighted names above to learn more about the program, place, and/or character.)

After the events of M-Day, Cecilia was appeared to be unaffected and had retained her mutant powers. (To learn about M-Day, click on the highlighted names above. Note: Beware of the revealing and form-fitting outfits worn by some on the M-Day's bio page.)

More recently, although she is still more comfortable healing humans than fighting superhumans, Cecilia found herself as part of the new team composed by Wolverine.

In the film X2, "Cecilia Reyes" appears a folder on William Stryker's computer files. (Her name is listed on the very top of the second picture posted above.)
